How Tickers, Min, and Max Work

ClearLedger Analytics separates portfolio manager intent from system-controlled risk discipline. Portfolio managers decide which names belong in the investable universe and set any required minimum exposure. ClearLedger Analytics then calculates the maximum weights needed to keep the portfolio diversified, stable, and compliant.

Adding a Ticker

When a portfolio manager adds a ticker, they are making one decision: whether that name should be eligible for investment.

Removing a Ticker

Removing a ticker means the name should no longer be eligible for allocation. ClearLedger Analytics deletes it from the investable universe and rebalances the remaining minimum and maximum values across the remaining tickers.

Min: Portfolio Manager-Controlled

Minimum weight is the only allocation constraint set directly by the portfolio manager. It communicates intent:

In short, Min tells ClearLedger Analytics: “I want at least this much exposure.”

Max: System-Controlled

Maximum weight is calculated by ClearLedger Analytics, not set by the portfolio manager. The system determines Max using:

Max protects the portfolio from concentration risk and helps keep the optimizer stable.

Why This Design Works

The design principle is simple: portfolio managers express intent, and ClearLedger Analytics enforces discipline.

This keeps portfolios predictable, diversified, and compliant without requiring portfolio managers to micromanage every constraint.
